Since 1973 Dante’s has been serving fresh, hot pizza and authentic Italian fare. Pizza dough, sauces and our signature Italian dressing are all made in-house daily.

The Beginning

1973

Dante’s was founded in March 1973 by Joe Appollonio who emigrated from the Abruzzo region of Italy when he was 14 years old.

Joe started his career working at Romeo’s Pizzeria in Grandview, the first pizzeria in Columbus. He learned the restaurant trade through his experience and opened Dante’s in the location it still stands today.

New Ownership

2021

In 2021 long time employee Christina Taylor and husband Jeff Egger purchased the restaurant. Christina started working At Dante’s when she was 15, and takes pride in not only welcoming customers, but treating them like family after all these years. “Being able to interact with all these wonderful people really fills my cup, we have the greatest customers ever!” In her 26 years of employment at Dante's she has had the pleasure of watching so many families grow over the years.

Christina and Jeff are high school sweethearts, who both graduated from Whetstone High school. They grew up in Clintonville eating Dante’s as kids, and currently still live in the neighborhood. They look forward to serving the community with the same dedication to quality and customer service that Joe offered for so many years.
